Lost then Found………….thank heavens!

Monday 31st August – 2nd September

We left Undara reasonably early but soon realised that my wallet was missing. We rechecked our movements the previous night & felt I must have still left it in EKO. We travelled through Mount Garnet & Innot Springs & then stopped at Ravenshoe for breakfast. I had a missed call message from Undara advising they had located my wallet. Apparently, it was found in the bistro where I had paid the bill for our meal the night before.

We were only 50 km from our campsite at Atherton so we pressed on & checked in & set up camp. Unfortunately, when reversing in to our campsite I broke my Anderson plug connection so I found an auto electrician late afternoon & had a new one fitted.

The next morning I was up really early & made the 400km round trip to Undara to retrieve my wallet. While I was away Cheryl washed sheets, doona cover, swept out Eko, dusted etc. In the afternoon we visited Herberton Historic Village – a group of 60 world heritage listed buildings that are just sensational & full of interesting contents.

Today we visited the interesting non commercialised little town of Yungaburra which has a real village type atmosphere. I got a haircut & beard trim whilst Cheryl checked out the shops & bought a new top. We visited the Curtain Fig Tree & Cathedral Fig Tree. These quirks of nature were interesting & located in pleasant forest. We visited Lake Barine which was pretty before paying our respects at the Avenue of Honour on Lake Tinaroo. The avenue is dedicated to Australian military killed in Afghanistan. We then headed to the Gallo Cheese & Chocolate Factory where we had lunch…..mm mm…..yummy. This afternoon we obtained some more provisions before heading back to the village of Herberton to visit their mining centre which contained a lot of information about the area. We then went to the Spy & Camera Museum which was just sensational & the guide was fantastic.

  1. We can understand the round trip Steve, Greg did the same thing last year. We had a round trip from Erldunda back to Sturt Roadhouse to retrieve his wallet ! It looks terrific out where you are.

  3. Oh my goodness. Slow down. It’s a common thing. Clive didn’t stop at first either. We have travelling friends we catch up with. We move on and catch up with others. But you are enjoying it all and a lot of Aussies do the same

  4. I hit a wrong button. Next year we might catch up and spend a few days together. Aus is a big country. Don’t forget we would fit you in on the way back for one or two nights. Have a comfortable double bed. Enjoy. Hugs
