Winners are Grinners!!!!!!!

Hello everyone & thank you for reading our blog.

Tonight will be our last night in Cobar before heading further north. Cobar shire is the same size as Tasmania but only has a population of 7,000. It is situated on the crossroads of The Barrier Highway & the Kidman Way. It is a prosperous town with a mixture of old & new buildings & has a mining & pastoral history.

Yesterday we did our shopping & washing as well as checking out Fort Bourke Lookout where we had a good view of the original open cut mine which now goes down another 3 km. They mine copper, lead & gold. We also visited the Heritage Centre & did a tour of the museum. Chezza got to pretend to be a miner.

Today we headed out to Mount Grenfell which is a historical aboriginal site. After travelling 40km we found the road closed & returned to Cobar where this afternoon we attended the Cobar Picnic Races. It was a good afternoon with the locals & we came out slightly in front. The hot tip my brother Michael gave me ran third so I will be looking for my $50 bro.
