Hello everyone.
Thank you for reading our blog and we appreciate your comments.
We left Charters Towers and travelled back toward Townsville before taking the road to Ravenswood. Ravenswood is like Charters Towers in that it has some fine buildings and a rich gold mining history, however, that is where the similarity ends as it only has a population of 200. We checked out the old buildings, mining sites and had a beer in the old Railway Hotel.
I was fortunate to get this photo of a Wedgetail Eagle on the ground!
We also had a day trip to the Burdekin Falls Dam about 80 km further south of Ravenswood. The dam is the largest dam in Queensland and at full capacity it holds 1,860,000ML which is four times the capacity of Sydney Harbour.

An interesting visitor whilst having our lunch at the dam!
The next day we travelled out to the coast & down through Ayr, Home Hill to the coastal town of Bowen. Bowen is famous for its agricultural produce and fishing. We have taken the time to enjoy some of that seafood produce & look at many of the murals in the town.

Nice views of the Whitsundays & Bowen Harbour from Flagstaff Hill.
Tomorrow we make our way further south.

Steve, your best blog ever!
The picture presentation really gets the message across about the hitoric town of Ravenswood. The murals are magic!
