We are now back from visiting the West and East Macdonnell Ranges. There has been no telephone signal which is why we have been unable to post for a while. I have not gone into the history and cultural significance of each place as you can easily google for further information. Anyway, back to the […]

Change of Plan!
We have had to make some changes to our planned travel. Upon leaving Coober Pedy we had planned to travel up the Stuart Highway to Erldunda Roadhouse then turn onto the Lasseter Highway and visit Yulara and Kings Canyon. Unfortunately, the regions accommodation is all booked out through to August. These popular destinations have not been able […]
Opal Country!
After our night at Pimba, mid-morning found us back on the Stuart Highway and heading north. We found the countryside interesting and enjoyed magnificent views over the salt lakes of Island Lagoon and Lake Hart. We found a great free camp just outside Coober Pedy. I went for a good walk and discovered 5 abandoned diggings with 4 of the 5 shafts […]
Back to the “Outback” Yea!!!!!
After Port Augusta our next destination was Pimba on the Stuart Highway. We stopped to look at geographical points of interest along the way and a spot of lunch before arriving at Spuds Roadhouse at Pimba. This free camp ($5.00 donation) has toilets and showers and proved extremely popular. There were about 25 caravanners, mobile homes, camper trailers etc. The next […]
The Mallee, the Riverland and now the gateway to the outback!
We left Waikerie mid-morning and travelled to the historic town of Morgan on the Murray River. It was once the busiest inland port on the river handling 80 boats a week and an extensive railway presence with 8 trains. The past is evident in the township with many historical buildings that are still utilized today. After crossing on the ferry, we visited the local Tourist Information Centre, craft […]
Great Silo Art, Scenery and free camping locations!!!
Our overnight camp at Underbool was brilliant. Facilities were first class and well maintained. Underbool is the gateway to the Pink Lakes and Murray – Sunset National Park. The Pink Lakes appear pink under certain conditions and are best in winter and in spring. The wildlife and birdlife are abundant around the lakes, but we saw only kangaroos. We were mightily impressed with the […]
The Amazing Spanner Man
Hello everyone, Thank you for your comments and feedback, it is appreciated. The day after arriving at Boort was terrible weather and we spent most of our time in our caravan. Today was the exact opposite and a welcome change – great blue skies. First up we visited The Spanner Man after several recommendations from friends and other […]
Tired, but now actually into our trip proper!
Whilst in Melbourne we caught up with Stephen’s daughter , Michel, and youngest son Trevor. We also enjoyed a nice meal at The Bridge Hotel, Werribee with them and their partners. Today, (Monday) we left Werribee and travelled to Gisborne via Melton. Melton is an urban area approximately 35 km west of Melbourne. Gisborne is […]
Back on the road again…It feels good
Hi everyone, after no travel due to Covid 19 lockdown last year we are pleased to be on the road again. After checking and rechecking every thing on and in the vehicle and caravan, we drove from Hobart to Devonport and boarded the Spirit of Tasmania. After a smooth overnight sailing we are now staying […]
