A LOT HAS HAPPENED SINCE OUR LAST BLOG!
Our last blog was from Wonga Beach in North Queensland. We were enjoying our time at the beach but unfortunately I badly tore my calf muscle which severely limited our travels. We cut short our time at Wonga Beach as we had decided to travel home via outback Queensland, the Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria. We travelled to Cairns where we caught up with our friends, Damien and Susan Apostel, whom are fantastic people. We had a great dining experience at a Thai restaurant. During the afternoon of arriving at Cairns a Covid 19 case was detected in the Cairns area. so we left the next morning avoiding a potential lockdown.
We travelled very quickly through outback Queensland to the border in 3 days only free camping . We crossed the border police checkpoint with no problems as our permit was in order and free camped a couple of nights before getting an internet signal when we learnt it was mandatory we had to have a covid test and self isolate till we had a result. We organised a test at Alice Springs and after 70 hours we received our negative result. In the interim the South Australian border regulation was changed and we had to do a mandatory 14 days in the territory before entering South Australia. This was due to Queensland having several lockdowns including Cairns and a Covid case in the Northern Territory that lead to the Darwin and Katherine areas going into lockdown.
With plenty of time on our hands we travelled to Yulara and visited Ularu and Kata Tjuta

We then got permission to enter South Australia and headed back to Erldunda and down to the border and after clearing the border police block we did some big kilometres over the next three days to find us in the Clare Valley.
