Extreme rain & wind but……………………Team Henry & EKO survived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

September 18th – 20th

We have had a couple hectic days on the road but it has been good. We left Brisbane & drove south through the Gold Coast down to Byron Bay & then onto Evans Heads. Evans Heads was a delightful place but the weather was horrendous. The wind would have been strong enough to blow the milk out of your cup of tea. Our touring awning collapsed under the onslaught of the wind & rain & much of New South Wales also suffered physical damage to property. I went out & purchased heavy duty tent pegs from the local hardware store & we will have to get a minor canvas tear in the touring awning repaired when we get home.

From Evans Heads we travelled to Tenterfield where we took in the history of the town including the Tenterfield Saddlery made famous in the song by Peter Allan. After overnighting in Tenterfield we travelled through Glen Innes then Armidale & are now camped at Tamworth for the next few days. Tamworth is the Country & Western capital of Australia.

MANY HAPPPY RETURNS TO MY BROTHER NIGEL WHOM TURNS 59 TODAY & HELLO TO HARRY & OLIVER.

  1. You probably get sick of us but it’s all experience. Once at Sale and a motorhome rally we saved as many awnings as we could. We never put awnings out in wind. We had sometimes 6 people hanging onto awnings while some owners slept. Undoing pegs, and hanging, swinging onto awnings as we wound them up. We have seen them go straight over motorhome and caravans. Good fun, what did you say, I hate wind, it’s is so damaging, and it comes so quick. We had a lovely weekend at Narrena, just out of Leongatha with friends from Gippsland. It’s our memories and without these experiences life would be boring, I think. enjoy and thanks for your newsletters.

  2. Glad you survived the onslaught. Watched it on the news and was very glad we came up the coast, and went down the middle, although we did cop some wind and torrential rain occasionally. Like you, our rig survived ! Enjoy the rest of the trip home and hope the winds and seas are calm
