After a great breakfast in a local bakery, take -away, café, lolly shop & antique shop! we travelled 30 kms south to the CSIRO Parkes dish. This dish is 64m across…….it is gigantic………..it paid a very important part during the moon landings & with many explorations of planets & asteroids. We initially parked our camper trailer next to a Tasmanian couple in a caravan & when returning to it whom should we run into …..but Meredith (ex CSIRO) & Greg…………..it is a small world. Parkes is also the sister city to Coventry in England which is where my mum was born & not far from where I was born. We travelled further south & had lunch at West Wyalong before coming down to Narrandera where we are camped tonight.

Happy Birthday Michael Granger! We changed direction & our plans today & headed into outback NSW through Hay, Deniliquin & eventually Echuca. What a fantastic day! The weather was fine. We saw galahs, kangaroos,

mobs of emus & a wedge tailed eagle which is the fourth one we have seen this trip. The Hay Plains were awesome.

We are in Echuca for three nights & today we managed to do a Murray River cruise on a steam paddle steamer, visit a great beer shed collection as well as a Holden Car Museum.
Parkes was terrific wasn’t it ? We watched the films and bought up lots of stuff. We are taking a houseboat form Echuca next March, so I hope it is as good as your experience was.
See you in Tassie
