We are on our Way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, thank you for reading our blog & following our trip.

Day1 Hobart (2)

Up early & finished loading the vehicle, said goodbye to the neighbours, secured the house & set off at 10:00 am. The weather was overcast but by the time we hit Campelltown it was raining. Our interim destination was Hillwood which is a small rural settlement on the Tamar River about twenty minutes from Launceston.

We had lunch at our friends. Bob & Vicki whom have a waterfront property & had just returned from a 4-month trip to the mainland. We have to advise you that Vicki makes the best egg & bacon pie!!!!!

It was good to catch up & talk about our holiday experiences, camping, caravans etc. Late afternoon we said goodbye & travelled via the Franklin Highway to East Devonport where we lined up to board the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry. The ship got away on time & soon after the Captain announced over the PA that “it is going to be a bit bumpy”. We believe the captain is friend of Adrian Tanner!

It was a rough night but neither of us were seasick. We were up at 5:00am & disembarked at 6:40 am & travelled to Dandenong. We had breakfast in Dandenong at Melissa’s Cakes whom were really friendly & offer good service. THEN IT WAS TIME TO PICK UP WALLY!

WHO IS WALLY & DARE I SAY WHERE’S WALLY?

Wally is our new caravan which we picked up from New Age Caravans at Dandenong. Wally is a 15’ caravan with separate toilet & ensuite. After 2 hours of paperwork & running through how everything works we then travelled down to Mornington where we shall spend a few days getting used to Wally.

Day 2 Picking up Wally (7)

Sunday 21/8/2016

Our first night in Wally was pretty good. We are very pleased we have a heater in the van & it was so good not to have to go to the amenities block in the middle of the night when it was raining. We pottered about before going out to do some grocery shopping & other purchases for Wally. We have also done a considerable amount of sightseeing because we regularly manage to get lost! My daughter (Michel) & youngest son (Trevor) & his partner (Scott) came down to the Peninsula & joined us for a meal at the Grand Hotel on Main Street in Mornington which was great.
