We nearly didn’t get to Healesville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! W

We have had a few interesting days! Our last day in New South Wales saw us travel from Gooloogong in a south easterly direction to avoid all the floodwaters to Gundagai. After Gundagai we travelled south through Albury to a little town of Beechworth which has a marvellous chocolate shop & some fine old buildings.

beechworth-2 We left Beechworth & travelled to Bonnie Doon where we took the opportunity to “smell the serenity” & then onto a marvellous free camp near Mansfield

We then travelled through Alexandra toward Healesville, We were 24km from Healesville when we were pulled up & advised the road around the Black Spur was closed due to many trees being across the road due to high winds. We then detoured to Marysville with the aim of going to Healesville via Warburton. The road to Warburton was narrow, winding & steep & I was not wanting to take the car & caravan over the saddle. We travelled all the way back through to Alexandra & then Yea & headed south in worsening winds on narrow winds. We had to turn around on three different roads into Healesville. On our last attempt we were again blocked by trees however an old bushy pulled up in his aging Nissan Patrol & advised he had just cleared an alternative route & gave us directions how to circumvent the problem areas. Finally we made it into Healesville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are now in Melbourne having Wally serviced prior to returning to Tasmania.

Sadly, our mainland adventure is coming to an end! WE SHALL RETURN 1/4/2017 FOR OUR NEXT ADVENTURE. Watch this space & thankyou for reading our blog.
