On the road again…..yeah we have played Willie!

Hi Folks,

Another update.

On the Sunday morning, we hit Woolworths to stock up for the start of our adventure then met my daughter Michel & youngest son Trevor & his partner Scott. After a fabulous brunch at the High Point Centre we headed west through Ballarat finally finding a free camp by a little lake prior to Horsham. It was called Canadian Gully Reserve so I broke out a Canadian Club tinny or three & toasted my friends Robb & Jeanette from Lumsden in Sask. Canada whom are following this blog. I first met R & J in PNG in 1980/81.

The next day we travelled through Horsham, Dimboola, Nhill and took in the wonderful Mallee & Wimmera districts grain growing plains before Quarantine at the border of South Australia & Victoria. We restocked at Bordertown & travelled through Keith & Tailem Bend & made camp at the Murray Bridge Showgrounds.Next day we travelled through some lovely fertile farming country & the delightful little towns of Mt Pleasant, Williamstown, Gawler, Malala & Balaclava before lunching at Snowtown. Yes, folks we also know about Snowtown & ……. yes, we did check out the bank building. We skirted Port Pirie & Port Augusta & made another great free camp at Iron Knob.

Snowtown… famous for the bodies in the barrels in the old bank building

Up this morning & travelled through Kimba, Wurdinna & onto Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula where we shall be for the next three nights.

  1. I guess you didn’t go thru Beulah, Mallee where I still have relatives or saw the painted silos. Can’t see everything in one or two goes. Have friends camped on lake at Hopetoun, they are doing the silo art. I’ll try and send one to you, the silo has to be free of wheat. Safe travel, hugs Barbara and Clive Some Aussies just don’t know how big Australia is.

    1. Hi Adrian, we stopped overnight at your old haunt i.e. Murray Bridge. Everyone remembers Ann & says how nice she is. Nobody said anything or remembered you. (lol)
