Hi everyone,

BWe have left Broome & are now at Derby some 220 kilometres north east of Broome & it is very hoooooooooot!
Derby is the closest town & ideal stepping stone to the awesome gorges of the Gibb River Road & the fantastic Horizontal Waterfall. Derby is located on King Sound near the mouth of the Fitzroy River. The average maximum temperature is 34.20C minimum 21.04C with an annual rainfall of 623mm falling between November & March.Derby was the first town to be settled in the Kimberley & is a service town to the pastoral, mining, tourism industries & aboriginal communities. It has a population of 5,000. Derby has the second biggest tides in the world (11.5m). Nova Scotia has the biggest. We drove up from Broome on the Saturday morning & that afternoon we flew by seaplane across the Buccaneer Archipelago before landing on the calm waters of Talbot Bay & transferring to our houseboat in a stunning location. We had our own air conditioned cabin.

We boarded our 900hp fast boat & experienced an exhilarating ride through the Horizontal Falls then it was time to catch our breath as we cruised Cyclone Creek & gazed in awe at the tremendous rock formations.

It was then back to the houseboat where we could feed the sharks & swim in the shark cage. Cheryl was very brave & patted a little one! We had a relaxing drink with nibbles & gazed upon another great Western Australian sunset. That evening we enjoyed a perfectly cooked BBQ wild caught Barramundi dinner & afterwards we just sat & relaxed on the open top deck of the houseboat.

If Cheryl could get a photo of you patting a crocodile that would be great
