After 25,416 kilometres this is our last post.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reading our blog.

After our night in Junee we travelled south through Wagga Wagga to Lake Hume where we had a relaxing two nights before travelling in a westerly direction to Bendigo where we spent two nights. Bendigo is a large Victorian regional town which was made famous for the discovery of rich goldfields.

After Bendigo, we travelled down to Melbourne to Spotswood where Stephen’s two youngest children live. Regrettably, his youngest son, Trevor, had gone to the ski fields for the weekend. We caught up with his daughter Michel & her partner Gopi & enjoyed a nice lunch at the Alpha Bakehouse. Even though he owns & drives a Jeep and has tattoos, Stephen thinks Gopi is not a bad bloke.

We then travelled across Melbourne to Station Pier where we caught up with some Tasmanian friends for dinner before boarding Spirit of Tasmania 1 for our overnight sailing to Devonport. We disembarked at 06:30 am & had breakfast with friends in Spreyton before travelling down the highways & arriving back home just after noon.

IT HAD BEEN 201 DAYS SINCE WE LEFT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, WHAT HAD WE DONE?

·         25,416 land kilometres

·         Two ferry crossings of Bass Strait

·         Two gorge cruises

·         Two sea plane flights

One helicopter ride

·         Two sunset cruises

·         One mud crab fishing charter

      Walked numerous gorges

Visited two country Horse racing events

Visited the hottest town in Australia

Ate a curried camel pie!!!!!!!!

We have had a fantastic time, seen some wonderful country, shared a campfire & drink with many fantastic new-found friends & seen Western Australia like we planned – we are so pleased!

We wish to thank all of you for taking an interest in our blog & for your posts & comments.

Safe Travels,

Chezza & Stephen

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience, most Australians have no idea how big Australia is and what it has to offer. It’s a beautiful country. Hugs

    1. Thanks Barb, we appreciate your comments. It was a fantastic trip with so many highlights. We ran out of time so couldn’t get to you but we plan to catch up in December if okay. My youngest son has his degree & graduation is in December. I saw mum & dad today after five & a half months. Both seem well.

  3. 25,416kms in 201 days is not a bad effort!

So when is your next trip? Also must be time for a new bigger van and a new double cab!

Your blog was most impressive. Much smarter than sending the occasional email. I assume that both Cheryl and yourself participated in writing the stories. I could not really pick.

I am curious – do any of your fellow travellers keep such a good record of their journey?

    1. Hello Clive, thanks for following our blog. We are already planning our next two trips. I think next year shall be a Pacific destination & the following year shall be South Australia/ Northern Territory. We have no plans to change change over Wally the caravan or Lightning the dual cab as they do us just fine.We both contribute to the blog & a lot of travellers we have met keep a diary & some do a blog like us. Facebook however is the most popular media. The good thing about a diary or blog is that it is permanent & trip specific.. Hope Margaret & you are enjoying the caravanning lifestyle.

    1. In a way we are glad to be home…………….but as we thought it is very cold. We have had the heat pump cranked up every day! Glad you enjoyed our blog & hope you can be “grey nomads” one day.
