Hello everyone.
Time for another update on Chezza’s Travels.
Whilst at Lucinda we visited other local towns like Halifax & Dungeness. We also took in the local market on a Sunday morning. The Lucinda Sugar Storage Facility incorporates a 5.2-kilometre jetty to conveyor belt the sugar to the ship loading facility. The sugar takes 22 minutes to travel from the storage facility to the ship loading facility.

Another day we drove 50 kilometres the other side of Ingham to visit Wallaman Falls. Wallaman Falls have a drop of 268 metres and the pool at the bottom is 20 metres deep. The falls also have a magnificent rainbow on occasion which we were lucky to see. The descent to the bottom of the falls is a 2-kilometre track and it is extremely steep. There are warning signs about the level of fitness required for the track. I found myself wishing I was considerably fitter.

After our five nights at Lucinda we travelled south to Townsville. Townsville is a major Queensland city with a skyline dominated by its well-known landmark, Castle Hill. Townsville is a major port for nearby islands, the agricultural and mining sectors and a tourist mecca. On our first full day we drove up to the summit of Castle Hill for tremendous views of all the city & out sea. We then drove down through the city to enjoy a casual walk along the Stand (esplanade) and enjoy a lovely lunch of fish and chips as well as a gelato. We tried the Ferrer Rocher, rum and raisin and panna cotta crunch flavours. Our verdict……. yum, yum.

We also visited Magnetic Island for a day. The island is 20 minutes by ferry from Townsville and very picturesque. It is quite small, and we were able to navigate the whole island by bus. We had a leisurely day and enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Picnic Bay Hotel. That evening we enjoyed a BBQ meet and greet with other guests at the caravan park as well as some blues singing.

Fantastic photos as per usual
