We made it!

Hello, it’s been a while, & welcome to our blog of our 2023 Australian mainland holiday.

We have a few overseas followers who follow our adventures, so we are including details of roads & locations as we know they follow us on Google Earth. When we last blogged we were leaving Weipa and continuing north.

We travelled by the Batavia Downs Road to the Bamaga Road an stayed at Bramwell Junction. The next day we travelled further north, crossing the Jardine River on the ferry and then travelling onto Siesia.

Siesia Jetty

We stayed at Siesia for 7 nights and during our stay we visited the northern most tip of Australia, travelled to Horn and Thursday Islands as well as checking out World War 2 sites and wrecks. There is a lot of WW2 history in far North Queensland.

We had to buy a shirt for our photo at The Tip!

We said goodbye to the tip and made our way south stopping overnight at Bramwell Junction and Musgrave Roadhouse.

Fruit Bat Falls

Further south at Laura we turned onto the Endeavour – Battle Camp Road which took us into Cooktown. We stayed a night in Cooktown before travelling south to Mount Malloy and coming across to Wonga Beach where we are staying till Sunday.

We have some cleaning to do – inside and outside!

  1. You seem to cover a lot of kms each day you are on the road. I am curious as to the most kms per day and how long behind the wheel?
