Monto surprises with some great murals and water tower art!

Hello & welcome to our blog of our 2023 Australian mainland holiday. We appreciate you follow our blog and your feedback.

We have a few overseas followers who follow our adventures, so we are including details of roads & locations as we know they follow us on Google Earth.

After leaving Cardwell we travelled south through the sugar town of Ingham and onto Townsville. Townsville is a coastal city which is known as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. It is a popular tourist destination because of the reef, its beaches and nice scenery. We passed through Townsville onto Bowen. Bowen is also a coastal town and well known as a tomato and mango growing area.

We camped south of Bowen at the coastal area of Wunjunga Beach. We stayed at a donation campsite which is called “Funny Dunny Park” for 3 days. We were blessed with great weather and also witnessed a “Blue Moon”

Great reflections!
Great view.

After Wunjunga Beach we headed south to the little town of Seaforth near Mackay for 4 days. Again, the weather was great and an added bonus was a mini market on the Saturday and a mega market on the Sunday.

We then travelled south through Mackay and Rockhampton to Yeppoon. At Yeppoon we were camped next to Gary and Gloria from Tasmania.

After 3 nights we travelled back to Rockhampton then west to Dululu and onto Baralaba for 3 nights. After Baralaba we went south easterly to Biloela and down to Monto. Monto is a large regional service town and is known for cotton, beef cattle and Cania Gorge National Park. It also has quite a bit of outdoor art which we do enjoy finding.

This lady had an interesting sign in her garden and is a bit of a legend in Monto as you will see in the next picture.
This Hotel is named after my father lol!
