Great Times then ….!

Hello & welcome to our blog of our 2023 Australian mainland holiday. We appreciate you follow our blog and your feedback. We have a few overseas followers who follow our adventures, so we are including details of roads & locations as we know they follow us on Google Earth.

After Monto we travelled further south through Eidsvold, Mundubberah to Gayndah.  These lovely towns are major service centres for the beef farming and citrus fruit production that the region is known for. We free camped by the river at Gayndah for a night before heading to Murgon and another free camp for two nights. The area is known for its cattle farming and wineries.

It was our eleventh wedding anniversary on September 15th so Cheryl and I had a lovely lunch at Moffatdale Ridge Winery. We can recommend the food and also suggest you buy some of their wines. Moonshine, which is their white port, is an outstanding drop. We bought 12 bottles!

Upon leaving Murgon we travelled east to Gympie , then to Nambour and stayed at Bli Bli for 4 nights. It was very relaxing and we enjoyed a great lunch with Peter and Helen Scarborough. I used to work with Peter at GRE Insurance and he also worked in Rabaul before I did.

As we were leaving Bli Bli our GPS took us into a Coles Shopping Centre. Unfortunately, I misjudged the height of a Shade and pulled a solar panel off the roof. We left Bli Bli and travelled south to Brisbane then west to Helenvale Roadhouse which is near Toowoomba where we caught up with Clive and Margaret whom are friends from Stephenโ€™s PNG days.

We said goodbye to Clive and Margaret and before leaving the Roadhouse checked over the van and were horrified to see the roof and ceiling had been damaged as well as the solar panel. We made our way to Toowoomba to a caravan repairer where the van will be fitted with a new roof.

Repairs are expected to be finished end of October early November.  This means we cannot take our van back to Tassie on our intended sailing date of 9/10. We will fly home from Melbourne on October 2nd and come back November when the van is ready.

Tomorrow we head south from Toowoomba to Goondiwindi and south along the Newell Highway.
