Hi everyone, when last we blogged we were at Mary Kathleen en route to Mount Isa where we had the car serviced. We then made our way to Cloncurry and then down toward Winton. We free camped at Dinosaur Creek (a dry riverbed) about 70 km from Winton.

We received a phone call that Stehen’s dad (94) had had a fall. We later learned he had broken his hip and they would try and operate the next day. They would not operate and he developed pneumonia and had limited time left. We drove the 700 or so kilometres east to Rockhampton. We stored the caravan and car and the same day flew Rockhampton to Brisbane to Melbourne to Hobart. We touched down in Hobart at 9:50 pm. His dad died at 9:50 pm so it’s like he knew his son was home. We are grateful he went quick and was not in pain.
After the funeral this week we shall return to Rockhampton, pick up our van and make our way quickly back to Tasmania.
This will be our last blog for this trip. We have a new adventure in the pipeline next year!

Hi Folks
Well, what do you say, words are never enough but that’s all we can offer unfortunately. Really sorry Stephen, my Dad died when I was 32 and it doesn’t really matter what age they are, we want them to be around forever. I’m really sorry mate but believe it or not, life does go on and whilst there will always be a place in your heart for your Dad, I’m sure you have lots of lovely memories to fall back on & support you through what is, undoubtably, a tough time. Your lovely wife will be your main support & I’m sure she will be there for you. There are some tough days ahead but you will get through them with her support. Hang in there old son!
Thinking of you in this tough time.
Kind regards
Geoff & Di
